What Is the Student Visa?

Students are encouraged to apply at least three months before their intended study start to ensure timely processing. The peak period runs from October 2025 to March 2026 for the 2026 study year. Offshore students may receive approval in principle, helping with study confirmation, fund transfers, and tuition payment.

Key Reminders:

  • Draft Applications: Submit drafts on or before 17 August 2025 by 17 September 2025 or they will expire. Click here for more information on the Immigration New Zealand website.

  • Funds & Genuine Intentions: Check the latest guidance to show sufficient funds and genuine intent to study.
